BIG Subgroup

May 18, 2024

The BIG (Beginner and Intermediate Group) focuses on the fundamentals of woodworking; the basic skills a woodworker should know – from setting up a shop to learning what it takes to become a proficient woodworker.  These skills may have been missed along the way, or perhaps never learned or not learned to proficiency.  Some of the skills we plan to address include:  Shop Setup, Dust Collection and Safety; Band Saw setup and maintenance; Joinery Techniques; Woodworking Tools and Tips to include:  types of cuts (miters, bevels, cross-cut, rip cuts), blade selection, cross-cut sleds; Router techniques; Math for Woodworkers; Tool Maintenance; Sharpening; Making Jigs and Helpers.  We meet Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. at different member’s shops.  At this time we don’t have a set schedule.  Our dates are determined by when the majority of members can attend.  Meetings are open to members and guests. If you have questions, email Barbara White:       bjwhite7044@gmail.com>

CNC Group – No meeting in May. June 15th meeting at Gene’s shiny new shop. Details to follow later. The plan is for people to do an inlay carving for this meeting so we can compare and discuss.
